Safar Agency
Travel Management Platform
THE CHALLENGE
The Problem
Small travel agencies in Algeria typically manage client records, bookings, and visa applications across spreadsheets and paper forms — an approach that breaks down quickly when handling Arabic names, document scans, and unreliable internet access.
ENGINEERING APPROACH
My Approach
I designed and built Safar Agency as a cross-platform desktop application using Tauri 2 (Rust shell + React frontend) backed by a local Express/SQLite API, so the entire system runs offline-first with no cloud dependency. The admin interface covers the full agency workflow: creating and publishing tour packages, managing client profiles with OCR-assisted passport and national ID scanning, tracking bookings through their lifecycle, managing visa applications on a Kanban board, running a drag-and-drop CRM leads pipeline, and exporting booking documents as PDFs. The app is fully trilingual (Arabic, French, English) with RTL layout support throughout.
OUTCOME & IMPACT
Outcome & Deliverables
The application is live and actively used at Safar Agency, consolidating what was previously a multi-tool, paper-heavy process into a single installable desktop app that works entirely offline — with optional data sync when connectivity is available.
